Cheyenne Y-Indian Tribe Dad’s 1st Planning Meeting

September 5, 2002

 

1.                  Introductions

2.                  What is Y-Princess Program?

            Purpose: The purpose of the Father and Daughter Y-Indian Princess Program is to foster the understanding and companionship of father and daughter.

-             Slogan:            "Friends Always"

-             Aims:            1.            To be clean in body and pure in heart.

                                   2.            To be "Friends always" with my father/daughter.

                                   3.            To love the sacred circle of my family.

                                   4.            To be attentive while other speak.

                                   5.            To love my neighbor as myself.

                                   6.      To seek and preserve the beauty of the Great Spirit's work in forest, field, and stream.

-            Pledge:           "We, Father and Daughter, through friendly service to each other, to our family, to this tribe, to our                     community, seek a world pleasing to the eye of the Great Spirit."

 

3.                  Leadership for the Tribe

    -   Chief (Chuck Major)                    -   Tally Keeper  * Need to elect

    -   Assistant Chief  * Need to elect       -   Sachem  (Roger Hardgrove)

 

4.                  Indian Names –       One for Dad and one for daughter (usually coordinates)

                    * See examples included in planning folder.  I have many more examples if needed.

5.                  Wampum (dues) - $2.00- $5.00 per meeting?  As part of the tribe meetings, the girls should be prepared to tell how they earned it.  *  $5.00 was selected by the Dad’s in the planning meeting.

 

6.                  Scouting Reports – As part of the tribe meetings, the girls can tell tribe about the interesting or fun things they may have done since last meeting.

 

7.                   Meeting Dates:  Targeting 2nd Tuesday of each month for the meetings, with activities between.  Would like to schedule the first meeting for next Tuesday or Thursday next week, 10th or 12th. At 7:00pm.   * Dads elected to target the 1st Monday of the month for tribe meetings.  The first meeting is set for September 16th at my house. 

 

8.                  Discussion of possible outings / trips.  * See outing ideas. 

 

9.                  Tentative Schedule for the Year.  * Dad’s took a rough cut at the 2002-2003 schedule in the planning meeting, updated version included.

 

10.              Vests - sold at a company in Marietta called Down to Earth.  * See flyer included.
